How to use Routing on Answer Alternatives

Routing is useful for creating follow-up questions based on specific answers in your quest or specific qualities given in respondent data (see the last section). This enables users to pose some questions to relevant groups of respondents only.

See this short tutorial video on How to add routing to questions:

You may also create Routing on answer alternatives. An example might be that you want to ask respondents to share their experience with your company.

On the next page you want to present respondents with relevant follow-up questions, only to those who had bad experience with Support or Customer advisor.

  • After inserting a new page break and creating the follow-up matrix question, click the gear wheel symbol for each row and add the routing condition. In this example we will first add the condition for Support,

  • Then Customer Advisor.

If the respondent answers „Good“ on both alternatives, the alternatives in the follow-up question will not be visible. The Question-text is still visible, this can be fixed by adding a separate routing to the follow-up question.

  • In order to add the separate routing, select the Follow-up Question, and click Routing followed by Add-routing.

The routing conditions here are almost same as previous. However they must be combined as 2 separate Conditions(1) with OR(2) as condition logic.

Now only the corresponding, relevant follow-up questions will be presented:
